Pakington Bakery and Pro Care Geelong 8000m Handicap

20170723_104344A field of 97 gathered near the Fyansford Hotel for the Pakington Bakery and Pro Care Geelong 8 km handicap. The new course with its traverse up the Buckley Falls track was predicted to suit the stronger runners. It was Justin Curran who was able to get past Barney Ellis to win by eight metres with Steve Curtain a further 50 metres away third. It was Curran’s second win in a month after he won his division of the sealed series in June. Kate Bramley and Ron Thomas continued their march towards club champion honours, each recording fastest time. One of the club founders, Dale Jennings, became only the second octogenarian to race with the club.
