The extremely mild early spring morning was replaced by the predicted wind gusts, dust and intermittent light rain as the 97 starters gathered for the Profeet Podiatry 5 km handicap at Fyansford. It was first year runner, Andrew Fitzpatrick, who was able to hold off the advancing pack to win by 40 metres from Mary Harrison with Kathryn Hayden a farther 30 metres behind in third place. Fitzpatrick joined the club at the urging of his parents who have been members for four years. Tracie Dekleva had a minute to spare in the race for fastest female whilst Mark Chalmers revelled in the shorter distance to record his first ever fastest male.
