It was a perfect Sunday morning for running for those who ventured to Waurn Ponds for the Mediate First 5 km sealed handicap. Many runners exceeded their expected time. It was Jarron Cole
who was able to end Grant Simpson’s sequence of fastest times when he triumphed by ten metres with Grant Davis a further 30 metres astern in third place. In the female division, last season’s club champion, Kate Bramley, was over a minute ahead of Sara Coulter and Kate Eisenhauer.
When the handicappers applied the hidden handicaps, Spencer Edwards from Camperdown took out the honours in the New and Returning division and Brendan O’Brien repeated his success of last month in winning the Backmarkers. Graeme Watkins won his first race for ten years in taking out the Middlemarkers whilst Carol Crawford scored another Frontmarkers sealed series heat victory as she did in 2015. Steve Welsh was acclaimed for reaching his 100 run milestone.
