A field of 92 athletes assembled for the running of the Feast! Geelong 5 km handicap along the paths between Fyansford and Queen’s Park. The weather was favourable and after last Sunday’s 15 km event, the shorter distance saw runners take off at a frenetic pace. It was Nicky Angus, who has been close to a win, who triumphed by 50 metres from Luke Haines with Rachael Thompson a couple of steps behind in third place. It was the fifth club win for Angus who last won on Mother’s Day in 2013. Catherine Allison was the fastest female by 16 seconds whilst invitation runner, Jacob Reed, obliterated his male rivals. A donated prize was up for grabs for the club’s octogenarians and it was founding member Dale Jennings who held off his two younger counterparts.
