The Injury Clinic ‘Not-the-Anglesea’ 8 km Virtual Race

There was one first timer among the 72 runners participating in the virtual running of the Injury Clinic 8 km sealed handicap. Once again, those who did their run early in the week benefited, avoiding the very strong winds later in the week. It was frontmarker, Fiona Fitzpatrick, who is still searching for her first official club win who held sway from newcomer Tania de Koning-Ward who beat her husband, last season’s Masters champion Alister Ward on adjusted time by a second. Fitzpatrick has been in the placings regularly recently and has been completing the Geelong Masters Athletics virtual races as well, building a great fitness base. Fastest times again went to Hayley Newman and Marcus Overman.

The Consistency Award is still interesting with Catherine Allison keeping a safe distance ahead of Jeanette Austin though the 21.1 km in 2 week’s time will be a test as Jeanette is primed for the longer runs. And Carol Crawford is only 6 points behind Jeanette.
