Active Feet 10 000 metre Sealed Handicap
The dire forecast proved incorrect with just one light shower in the early part of the Active Feet 10 km sealed handicap at Barwon Valley Park on Sunday. With only a gentle breeze, it was another great morning for distance running. Hamish Renkin timed his race beautifully to overtake the leading pair to win by 30 metres from Ryan Cross with Liam Drady 40 metres behind in third. Kate Bramley was comfortably the fastest female and when the handicappers applied the hidden handicaps, she was the winner of the Backmarkers division. In winning the Middlemarkers section, Barney Ellis won his third club race. Tania De-Koning-Ward and Jaime Lee Bell each recorded their first club victory in taking out the Frontmarkers and Newcomers divisions respectively. Colleen Stephens and Carol Crawford were congratulated on reaching their 500 and 300 run milestones respectively. A resident of Colac, it was estimated that Stephens had travelled in excess of 75 000 kilometres to compete with the club.
