Another cold, frosty morning greeted the 90 starters in the Fyansford Hotel 8 km handicap. As the sunshine gradually melted the ice, perfect distance running conditions prevailed. Frontmarker Jill Gillies set a fearsome pace but it was Madeline Crawford who emerged from the chasing pack to record her maiden club win. Club oldtimers stated that Crawford was the youngest female to have won a club race, having turned 20 earlier this year. Proud mother, Carol, was acknowledged for reaching the 200 run milestone.
