The largest teams race field in memory attended for the Pro Feet Podiatry relay event along the Barwon River precinct in perfect racing conditions. The handicappers used the computer to help them assemble 29 teams of three runners with each to complete 4 km. Team 6 captain, Zoe Adams, handed over to Ray Meesen and the lead was maintained with the pressure on Brian Gaylard to hang on. Some other teams had saved their gun runners to finish off and it was Mark Chalmers of Team 23 who powered home to capitalise on the good work of Julia Larrson and race sponsor Patrick Oughtred. Last year’s winner, Dan Wright from Team 5 also motored strongly to the finish to snatch second capping off the efforts of John Caulfield and Tim Stewart. Team 6’s Gaylard hung on for third.
