Persistent rain greeted the seventy-one hardy starters in the Injury Clinic 12.6 km handicap held around the Wurdiboluc Reservoir. After a break in the showers mid-race, an icy Antarctic blast hit the field with four kilometers to run. Some old time members claimed it was the most harrowing conditions in the past twenty years. It made no difference to Aaron Bird who raced through the field to record a convincing victory from Andrew McGrillen and Mark Humphrey. It was Bird’s second win in his three seasons with the club, having scored at Queenscliff last season. Kate Bramley and Jarron Cole were easily the fastest of their gender. Glenn Wrest was acclaimed for reaching his 300 run milestone.
