A strong, blustery south-west wind greeted the 88 competitors in the Carol and Terry Crawford Funerals 8 km handicap at Waurn Ponds. The twisting course and the buffeting wind made it difficult for runners to maintain a rhythm. It was first year member, Marcus Gniel, who was able to withstand the challenge from fellow first year runner Cassie Moss with perennial top ten finisher Andrew McGrillen filling third place. The gaps between first and second and second and third were 80 metres. Kate Bramley and Jarron Cole were convincingly the fastest of their gender. Thank you to the members who did the manual recording of the results.
After the event, Carol Crawford delivered a moving tribute to all former members who have passed away.
